Property and Construction
| In this field, as in the other sectors in which it is involved, the Firm provides strategy development, diagnostics and business performance improvement services.
Strategy Development
Trudeau & Associates has assisted numerous clients in developing and identifying their intended future. Our work has involved us with private and public sector organisations, statutory authorities and local government, as well as financiers and professional service providers to the industry. It has, in the process, exposed us to more specialised aspects of the property, construction and development environment, including:
- Urban infrastructure planning and delivery
- Urban development and renewal
- Housing and the examination of associated social issues, and
- Regional development.
Trudeau & Associates is one of a handful of practices that can lay claim to an association with some of the more substantial Australian urban development and redevelopment projects of recent times: the Honeysuckle development in Newcastle, the Homebush Bay development in the lead-up to the 2000 Olympics, the City West development, as well as other property-related initiatives undertaken by the New South Wales government and the State-owned Landcom.
Yet buyers of the Firm’s strategy development services are not to be found only among urban development entities. We have also advised:
- A construction company on charting its path to growth, from a small enterprise to one of the bolder players in the contemporary Australian market.
- One of Australia’s leading property fund managers for more than five years running, in articulating and renewing its strategy, and performed similar services for
- The organisation managing one of Australia’s largest corporate real estate portfolios.

 | | Diagnostics
In the property, construction and development sectors, the Firm’s services have tended to focus on two areas: risk assessment and operational performance. The Firm has:
- Conducted an extensive analysis of the performance of commercial real estate managers providing services under contract to an Australian State government for the management of its commercial portfolio.
- Assessed various aspects of the performance of a State administrative unit charged with the responsibility of managing and disposing of the State’s surplus property assets.
- Conducted risk analyses for major development projects, in Australia and in the United Arab Emirates. And,
- Played an active role in the assessment of social housing issues, with a particular focus on the question of affordable housing and its associated policy implications.

 | | Business Performance Improvement
“As was the case in the banking and finance sector, we found that clients in the property, construction and development industry welcomed our integrated approach to the development of better business models”, reflects Benoit Trudeau, Managing Director.
“Those approaches provide genuine insight into organisational workings and enable parties to approach the design of alternatives in a well-orchestrated way that acknowledges the relationships between aspects as different as culture, structure, business process, systems – even the physical work space”, he adds.
The Firm has conducted numerous assignments in this field, assignments ranging from:
- The development of complete delivery models for property services such as accommodation planning, procurement, facilities management, property management and project management.
- The development of improved processes for development management, facilities management, construction and refurbishment project management, as well as contract administration. And,
- The development of better service level agreements designed to lift service provider performance.
The Firm has made a significant investment in the property, construction and development environment since opening our doors. “The industry is an exciting one, under constant evolution as parties seek to make the most of what is, often, an undervalued and misunderstood source of corporate and organisational advantage. It is an involvement we intend to maintain and grow, wherever our services can prove useful”, says Benoit. |
